In English, languages are generally treated as proper nouns. In other words, the first letter of the language name in English is written with upper case letters. By comparison, the language names are typically not be capitalized in Spanish (unless they are at the beginning of a sentence).

Languages are always written as masculine nouns (so, for example, “Arabic” would be “el árabe” and “French” would be “el francés”). In many instances, the name of the language is the same as the name of the nationality.
