Learn Spanish with TikTok
TikTok is a mobile video sharing platform that you’ve probably been hearing a lot about in the news. Originally it was known in China as Douyin, and it focuses on short-form videos in genres like dance, comedy, and pop culture. Over time, TikTok proliferated around the world. It is not extremely popular in almost every country, and the amount and type of content has exploded. There is a lot of educational content being produced – and a lot of new ways to learn Spanish with TikTok.

Testimonials
TikTok can be used as more than just another mindless social media “bottomless pit”. A lot of people are actually using TikTok as a tool to learn Spanish.
This Redditor commented how a random Spanish meme video that randomly showed up in his ‘For You’ page one day inspired him to follow a ton of Spanish accounts. He combed through the comments to find similar Spanish TikTok accounts, and followed them all until about half of his followed accounts were in Spanish.
This fortuitous accident ended up giving him “near-instant access to Spanish speaking and text” that helped him to develop:
- practice listening comprehension
- develop a colloquial and ‘slang’ vocabulary.
- learn about irregularities in conjugation and sentence formatting
He reported learning dozens of new words in just a few weeks; and all he had to do was swipe and listen! Talk about a great payoff for relatively low effort.
NBC news reports that tons of young people in China are learning Spanish via TikTok.
